Hey everyone! Sorry that I've been away for so long. It just got really crazy around here very fast and unexpectedly. Not long after my last post, I met someone very special and because of his limited time at home before he had to go for some training in the Army, I tried to spend as much time with him as possible.
I've also been doing as much work as possible, however its been hard to get more than two days of work which has been very frustrating for me because I really wanted to get a new camera by the end of the summer and that seems more and more unlikely. Hopefully I'll be making some money at school with some sort of job and will be able to get a camera just a little later than I had originally planned for. I am also on the look out for other jobs, but I don't think anyone is willing to hire someone for less than two months.
I haven't really been taking a lot of photos during this summer, but I have recently become a member of the local historical society and will be working as an intern with them by taking some photos of locations around town that were photographed almost 100 years ago and trying to match the older photo from the same vantage point. It's going to get technical because a lot of the photos are from high above the city, so getting these same spots will be a little tricky but I am up for the challenge. I'm also going to be taking some pictures of historical houses for a tour they are hosting and this will also be a little challenging because I need to watch the time of day, the vantage point from which I take the photo, and making sure that I get all of the house in the photo so that they will be the best photos of that location as possible. There also is a possibility of getting some money and equipment at the end of this summer if I do a good enough job. Now that's a motivator if I every heard one!
Other than that, it has been pretty boring around here. I am still using my film camera here and there when I don't want to lug my digital around. I'm really only taking photos of my friends and I hanging out and I think that film really adds something to the look of the photos than a digital.
O Yeah! I talked to a local business owner about having some of my photos on display in his store and he told me to contact him about that and to show him some photos. I haven't done it yet (which is bad) but I've only recently figured out what I want to do. Since I will be out walking the town, I thought that taking some film black and whites of the people in the area would be a pretty cool exhibit. I'll send out an e-mail to him tomorrow about setting up a meeting with him to talk about it.
That's all for now. I hope that your summer is going well!
Ciao!
