Almost there...

This week is finals week and luckily I only have 1 final to study for. It's for my Greek Mythology class and if they gave out A+ here, I would have one, so I'm not too worried about the final but I'm still going to do some studying for it.

Over break I really want to sit down and update this blog with some photos. As for this semester, I was pretty busy, but I still didn't have as many Collegian assignments as I did this time last year. I even joined another media outlet on campus, but the story that I tried to work on just fell through. I really wanted to do it, however I couldn't get a hold of the resources I needed to make it work, i.e. a car, my partner, and my contact for the piece. I hope to start out strong next semester though as their photo editor. And if my schedule permits it, I want to be an assistant editor for the Collegian, but I feel that there are just so many problems down there that I'm just going to get really frustrated and stop.

What I really want though is a new camera and car for this internship nearby. It sounds really great and I feel like I will gain a lot of experience from it. However, I don't have enough money for a car and that is the bare minimum to have an internship with a newspaper as a photographer. I have been turned down from a newspaper because of this issue before. I'm just frustrated that every time I try to gain some experience and really try and put myself out there, there is a problem that is beyond my control. I do have a job, however it would take me months to make the money to get a car at the rate I am going. My friend suggested selling prints and I wouldn't mind doing that, however I have to make a website to do that. That might be my big project over break. I'm going to talk to my old editor who has a website and see what he did.

I'm really excited about this Christmas break though. I'll get a few weeks with my boyfriend (6 months today!) and that will probably be the longest time we'll have together in the near future. I'll also get to introduce him to my extended family at Christmas, so that will be really fun. He might also come to my fencing tournament when he gets back.

I'm going to be taking a lot of photos with my film camera so that when I come back I'll have some nice photos to start printing. I'm also going to try and go to the lab this week and see if I can do a couple of prints.

I'll try and update this soon.

Ciao!
