Busy, Busy, Busy

I've been just so busy lately!! This last weekend was lazy, but I still had to shoot for the Collegian. We got out of classes early because of a snow storm, so I shot some photos of that. And then we had a campus wide power outage and a boy in my building got stuck in the elevator! So I stayed through the whole thing with him and his friends and took photos of them talking to him and trying to pry the doors open. The boy called the police in the elevator and another boy outside called them again to tell them that someone was stuck in the elevator, but no one came. They just waited for the electricity to come back on because the kid wasn't in really big trouble. But if I was stuck in an elevator for 20+ minutes in pitch black, I'd freaking tell them to get the hell over to me now. That photo got the front page and my editors were really happy that I was on the story and the overall hard work that I have been putting in over the past week. I even got two photos in the best of the week slideshow. So that is a big honor for me. I also have a photo in today's paper, but they seem slow to deliver them, so I'm going to get a few later.

The even though I am really glad that I am working hard for the Collegian, it is still hard work and balancing it between my school work and procrastination is hard, lol. I have two essays due tomorrow, and have to get on top of a feature article for the fencing club on campus along with keeping in contact with my EMT project that I am freaking out about. I just want to get the shots I need to start writing the freaking article!! My editors want me to contact someone I know in the student run fire engine, but I just talked to his buddies yesterday and they said that he has the flu, so that might be postponed because I'd have to find someone who is willing to be photographed. You would think people would like their photo in the paper, but not the local fire department. They have this thing where they have to buy wings if they get in the paper, so they are unwilling to go through that. But they are in the middle of recruiting and I don't really see the harm in having a couple of photos in the university paper. If I was rich, I would totally buy them the wings, but I just think that they should suck it up for once and just accept this article. And that is the end of my rant on the Fire department. I just pray that they will accept me, or that I get an injury photo before I go with them. I just don't like to have my article jump from EMTs to Fire. I know that they are students helping students, the premise of my article, I just am afraid of having this article drawn out more. And I just remembered that I need to get some personal shots of some of the people I have photographed to show their student side. *sigh* I wish I had more time in the week to do Collegian stuff and less school work. I am really feeling the pressure on getting this article out, but I feel that the more they need me to do to get it finished, the longer it is going to take. This better be the best freaking article ever or I'm going to scream.

I'm starving so I'm going to head back to my dorm. I just came to the library to edit photos for my art project because I am too poor to actually own Photoshop CS3 or any good editing program for that matter. Joy. I might sneak back to the art studios and take my drawings so I can fix them up a bit before class. God I need some good sleep.

I hope that you are not as busy as I am and are getting the good sleep that I am not. I will post the photos that I mentioned in this post later when I have time. Whenever that is....

Ciao!
